Our Story

Sorta was born from a simple observation: hiring is broken. Too many companies waste countless hours on inefficient processes, while exceptional candidates slip through the cracks.

Founded in 2024, we set out to build an AI-powered platform that could identify the right talent based on what actually matters – skills, potential, and alignment with company values – not just keywords on a resume.

Today, we’re helping forward-thinking companies transform their hiring processes, reduce bias, and build stronger teams through intelligent, data-driven recruitment.

Meet Our Founders

Mike Pryke
CEO & Co-Founder

MIke’s background is broadly in commercial roles at high-growth companies, where he has hired more than 250 people (and interviewed, he reckons, about 2,000-2,500 candidates). Mike leads the Client facing functions within Sorta and loves helping Talent Acquisition teams however is possible.

Ken Duffield
CTO & Co-Founder

Ken’s career has seen him do everything from fixing British Navy submaries, through management consulting at a Big-4 firm, through to running high-impact product squads for an international FinTech scale up. At Sorta, Ken leads the vibe-coding team and builds all the wonderful tech our customers use and love.

Bias has no place in hiring

AI should augment, not replace

We don’t believe in removing humans from the hiring process. Our technology is designed to give recruiters superpowers – automating the tedious parts of their job so they can focus on what humans do best: building relationships and making nuanced decisions.

Black-box AI creates suspicion and fear. We’re committed to building explainable AI that helps users understand why certain candidates are recommended, and we’re open about how our technology works and its limitations.
